Dr. Philliph Masila Mutisya
Dr. Philliph Masila Mutisya, Ed.D., received early education in Kenya and relocated to the US for higher education in 1984. Professor Mutisya is married and has four children. He officially retired on June 30, 2024, as a full time Professor from North Carolina Central University (NCCU) after 23 years of service. He has dedicated a total of 37 years to the University of North Carolina Public Education System. At NCCU, Dr. Mutisya served as the coordinator of two Master’s Degree Programs: Educational Instructional Technology and Instructional Design, within the Curriculum Instruction Department, School of Education.

About Me
Dr. Mutisya is a Founder and Vice President of Integrated Community Holistic Care (ICHCare, Inc.). He is also the Founder, Senior Vice President, and Executive Director of the Diaspora Outreach Developments Foundation Inc. (https://dodfincorp.org). Lead Co-Founder of the Diaspora University, and a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Diaspora University Town Project in Voi, Kenya (www.dut.or.ke). Additionally, he serves as an Executive Consultant for PATHS University US/Guinea West Africa (https://pathsuafrica.education) and is the Secretary General of the Kenya National Council of Elders Diaspora Inc. (www.KNCOED.ORG).
Dr. Mutisya is a Co-Founder and Advisory Board Chair of the African Diaspora Coalition-USA and the Chief Educational Consultant for Bahati Educational Training and Development Consultants International. He has played a pivotal role in establishing a partnership between the Global Peace Foundation (GPF) and NCCU, in collaboration with the GPF Center Kenya. He also serves as an Executive Member of various Boards of Directors, including The Academy of Process Education (www.processeducation.org), Miles of Great Hope, and the Kenya Scholars and Studies Association (kessa.org).
His research interests encompass instructional leadership, curriculum development, research capacity building in interdisciplinary critical pedagogy/andragogy, diversity, multicultural education, cultural identity, educational entrepreneurship, educational psychology, and the philosophical/social foundations of education. He is also involved in professional training and development in international and global civic education literacy. Dr. Mutisya earned his Doctorate Degree in Instructional Leadership with a focus on Curriculum Development in Multicultural and Bilingual Education, and a Master’s Degree in Education (M.Ed.) in International Education. With over 35 years of experience in higher education, he has specialized in instructional training and development, curriculum development (policy and research evaluation, program design, assessment, and evaluation), and professional development for faculty and education professionals (K-20).
